If you'd like to use the opportunity of visiting the Peanut Festival to discover
more about the South Burnett, you can find out a lot more about our region
and its many attractions by visiting
South Burnett
Tourism,
South Burnett
Online,
South Burnett
Biz,
South Burnett
Cuisine or
South Burnett
Wine.
Kingaroy is also one of the
two hubs of the
South Burnett Wine
Trail (the other hub is at Murgon, Redgate and Moffatdale - about 55km
to the north). Many visitors enjoy dropping by our wonderfully relaxed
wineries; taking in the breath-taking views at the
Bell Tower
Restaurant; or sampling unique
regional cuisine in our local
restaurants.
Just as many others enjoy the first-class fishing and watersports available
at nearby Lake Boondooma or the Bjelke-Petersen Dam (both rated
as the best inland waterways in Queensland). And other people find
the world famous Jurassic-era Bunya Mountains - just 55km east of
Kingaroy - an irresistible destination.
Naturally, if you'd like personal help about what to see and do during
your stay you shouldn't hesitate to drop into any of the South
Burnett Tourism Association's four Visitor Information Centres.
Kingaroy's Visitor Information Centre is located in Haly Street opposite
the peanut silos (and you really can't miss these if you drive into Kingaroy
- they're the tallest structures in town!)
Other Visitor Information Centres are located in Henry St, Nanango
immediately next to Nanango Shire Council's offices; inside the South Burnett
Region Timber Industry Museum on the Bunya Highway at Wondai; and
in Lamb Street, Murgon - right in the heart of town.
If you're one of them, then make sure you drop into the
Kingaroy Visitor
Information Centre in Haly Street opposite the peanut silos.
They have a wonderful video that explains just about everything you'd
like to know about this astonishing plant. And if it doesn't, the friendly
staff at the Centre are more than happy to answer your questions. The video
presentation is completely free and available for viewing at any time.
There are also plenty of petrol stations in and around Kingaroy if you're
driving your own vehicle. But it sometimes comes as a surprise to city dwellers
that most of them keep the
same hours as normal retail businesses.
But if you need petrol outside normal trading hours, you'll find a 24-hour
service station located on the Bunya Highway on the southern side of
town. Just follow the signs that point to Kumbia and Dalby - it's immediately
opposite the roundabout just before you leave the township area.
