September 1, 2009 - One of the many new features at this year's PCA Kingaroy Peanut Festival is the
Harvey Norman and
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE's Great BBQ Cook Off.
The cook-off marquee, located in the heart of the Festival grounds, will feature 14 trade displays including local wineries, food producers and electrical brands, as well as a unique cooking competition.
This will consist of three divisions with two competitors in each competing for great prizes. Divisions are: School students, TAFE students and Open Age. Competitors must
not be qualified chefs.
For a chance to enter, simply drop your favourite mouth-watering BBQ recipe into Harvey Norman's Kingaroy store by
September 9 and you could be invited to recreate your culinary masterpiece at the Kingaroy Peanut Festival.
Divisional prizes are:- Open Age - $899 BeefEater barbecue
- TAFE Student - $899 Everdure barbecue
- School Student - $1000 Sunbeam Coffee Machine for the school and a $200 Harvey Norman gift voucher for the student
The winning recipes will be judged by
Mike Giles (Silver Lining),
Jason Ford (SQIT) and
Kelli McArthur (CROW-FM).
The Harvey Norman tent will be open to the public from 10:00am to 5:00pm but the actual competition will run from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
As well, there'll be a lucky door prize of a Blanco Microwave to be won and other great giveaways.
